As our aging population grows the aged care sector is being strained

As our aging population grows the aged care sector is being strained

Since May, North Shore Hospital has had a 20-bed ward full of people - with no medical reason to be there.

Aged Care Association Chief Executive Tracey Martin says many of them will be older people needing aged care.

She says in Auckland there's a very tight supply of care.

Martin says both residential care facilities and Psychogeriatric care have almost no capacity.
