An expert believes there's nothing to do but avoid getting bitten, as Pacific Island nations grapple a dengue  outbreak

An expert believes there's nothing to do but avoid getting bitten, as Pacific Island nations grapple a dengue outbreak

The viral infection spreads from mosquitoes to people, and can cause high fever, sore muscles, pain behind the eyes, and a rash.

Since April, Samoa's had more than 2000 cases and multiple deaths.

World Mosquito Programme Senior Director, Greg Devine, says a lot of people won't feel sick, but some have flu-like symptoms.

He says there's no cure, but more severe cases require hospital treatment.
