Neurological experts are calling for better healthcare services

Neurological experts are calling for better healthcare services

Neurological conditions impact a third of New Zealanders, and cause one-in-five deaths.

The Neurological Alliance - an advocacy group of 20 organisations - says dementia and strokes had a combined cost of 3.6-billion dollars in 2020, and will balloon in a decade's time.

Group Chair Richard Easton says workforce shortages are affecting those who need care.

He says people are lacking access to specialist nurses and physiotherapists.
