A push for innovative solutions to address New Zealand's growing mental health crisis

A push for innovative solutions to address New Zealand's growing mental health crisis

The Whau Mental Health Research Foundation's highlighting research almost 11 percent of New Zealanders are grappling with untreated mental health needs.

It says staff shortages, long wait times and rising demand are putting pressure on traditional mental health services.

Foundation Chairman Rob Kydd says new technology's presenting an opportunity to help address these issues.

He says it's particularly good for lower levels of stress and these types of interventions are just as effective as face to face ones.
