The manager of a daycare attended by Malachi Subecz says there were no clear signs of child abuse

The manager of a daycare attended by Malachi Subecz says there were no clear signs of child abuse

The five-year-old was murdered by carer, Michaela Barriball, in 2021.

At a coronial inquest into his death in Auckland, the daycare manager, whose name is suppressed, says her first impressions of Barriball were positive.

She says months before Malachi died - he arrived with bruises, but they accepted the carer's explanation he'd fallen off a bike.

The manager says the idea he was being abused never crossed their mind.
