A continuation of power line tampering and theft across Christchurch is frustrating Police

A continuation of power line tampering and theft across Christchurch is frustrating Police

They're renewing an appeal for information following ongoing attempts to steal copper from lines.

It's led to outages and exposed powerlines across McLeans Island, West Melton, Dallington, Avondale, Brooklands and Spencerville.

Acting Detective Sergeant Steph Trengrove says it's frustrating when essential services are disrupted and is a serious safety risk.

She says while nobody has been seriously injured yet, there's a very high chance that serious injury or death will occur if it continues.
