Simon Bridges is playing down a claim he made to Heather du Plessis-Allan that he was driving from Tauranga to Wellington because his internet at home only worked 50 percent of the time

It's since been revealed The National leader's home has fibre and ultra-fast broadband.

Today Bridges is saying dodgy internet was just one reason, and not the main, for his long drive.

He says he has to be at Parliament to ask the questions and get answers from Government and officials.

And that happens on the Covid Epidemic Response Committee he chairs at Parliament on Zoom.
