Moves to better support new teacher mentors

The Post Primary Teachers' Association has launched initiatives aiming to better recognise the role.

They include clear and detailed guidelines for those helping trainees, classroom specialists, and teachers from overseas.

President Chris Abercrombie says research shows effective mentoring can make or break an establishing teacher.

He says we need to keep teachers in schools, so everything needs to be done to support their professional growth.
