Latest figures from the Department of Internal Affairs show Noah was the most popular boys' name in New Zealand last year, while Isla was the most popular girls' name.

Jack was the most popular boys' name in the South Island, topping the list in Canterbury, Otago, and Southland.

Noah, however, led in the North Island, including Auckland, Waikato, Taranaki, and Northland.
