A new law modernising the rules in our skies, comes into force today

A new law modernising the rules in our skies, comes into force today

The new Civil Aviation Act, sees an improved process for authorising airline cooperation agreements with better transparency.

It also provides more on-time performance reporting for airlines, clearer powers for aviation security, and better policy development for drones.

Acting Transport Minister James Meager, says a new independent review function is now in place, allowing individuals to seek reviews of Civil Aviation Director decisions.

He says the new Act focuses on keeping Kiwis safe, while accounting for new technology and changing aviation needs.
