Travelling around New Zealand could be about to get even more expensive

Travelling around New Zealand could be about to get even more expensive

Air New Zealand's signalling it will have to raise domestic airfares by about five-percent on average, due to unavoidable rising costs.

Chief Executive Greg Foran says they aren't making money on many of the tickets they sell.

He's revealed on an 100-dollar domestic ticket, roughly 70-dollars is going to authorities, airports and GST.

Foran says there is 30-dollars in that 100-dollar ticket left to buy the aircraft, staff it, and maintain it.
