The airport says airlines can fly more, and it could make for cheaper flights.
But Board of Airline Representatives', Cath O'Brien, says it won't work for short-haul flights, and it'll be a marginal difference for long-haul.
She says for regional, domestic and tasman jet services with lower prices, it'll certainly rise due to airport charges.
