Kelly Ripa revealed following her spouse Mark Consuelos' high-protein diet enabled her to zip up her dress at this year's Oscars

The 54-year-old actress and television host needed an instant fix as her side zip was getting caught in her skin when she tried on her skintight, sheer black gown for the Academy Awards in March

Luckily, her Riverdale actor spouse came to the rescue, advising her to follow his strict diet.

As someone who doesn't like to eat a lot of animal protein, Kelly made an exception this once and chowed down on yogurt, meats, and vegetables.

Speaking on Live with Kelly and Mark, she said: "So right before the Academy Awards, I was having trouble getting my dress zipped up the side. It was a side-zip dress, and I kept getting zipped into the dress.

"I don't know if any women have experienced having your side skin sipped into your dress. It is a punishing thing."

She continued: "It's the only time I've listened to Mark about my diet because I typically don't like to do what you're doing.

"I just find, you're like, way too disciplined. I can't live that way."

Kelly found the 54-year-old star's diet too regimented.

She added: "I didn't love it, because I'm not big on animal protein.

"I don't love it, but I ate exactly how you told me to eat, and that dress zipped right up, no side skin. And I looked super fit. Super, super fit. So thank you for that."
