Dolly Parton is making a comeback to the Las Vegas stage

The 79-year-old country music veteran has announcing a six-date residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace starting in December after more than three decades away from the Strip

She told fans in a statement: "To say I'm excited would be an understatement. I haven't worked Vegas in years and I've always loved singing there."

The limited engagement, titled Dolly: Live in Las Vegas, was announced on Monday, 23 June.

Her shows will take place on 4, 6, 7, 10, 12 and 13 December, coinciding with the National Finals Rodeo in the city.

It marks the first time Dolly has staged an extended run in Las Vegas since 1993.

Her past performances include a string of shows at the Riviera Hotel in the early 1980s and four concerts at the Mirage Hotel in 1993 - both venues have since closed.

The residency was announced via a press release and on Dolly's Instagram, where she also wrote: "Grab your rhinestones, Vegas is calling! (Star emoji.)"

Fans attending the shows can expect a "hit-driven concert event" featuring a selection of the singer's most well-known songs, including 9 to 5, Jolene, I Will Always Love You, and Coat of Many Colors. Tickets will go on sale to the public at 10am Pacific Time on Wednesday, 25 June.

Two VIP experiences will be available for purchase.

The Dolly Forever VIP Package includes access to Dolly's Rhinestone Lounge pre-show reception, early access to merchandise, and a Live in Las Vegas gift set.

And the "Star of the Show" VIP Experience offers all the same perks, in addition to a professional photo opportunity with Dolly and a behind-the-scenes onstage tour of the Colosseum.

Speaking to The Tennessean in 2022, Dolly reflected fondly on her earlier Las Vegas appearances.

She said: "I had a great time staying in some of the world's best hotels, eating free food, and trying to not order so much room service as a way to pass the time between my shows.

"It's a magical city, and I love how much the city celebrates entertainment. It's hot out there, though, so besides the shows and the casinos, there's really not a whole lot to do."

Dolly last appeared in Las Vegas as the host of the 2022 Academy of Country Music Awards.

The 10-time Grammy winner continues to perform and release music, after she was recently left bereft by the death of her reclusive husband Carl Dean.
