Eric Dane's girlfriend Janell Shirtcliff has paid an emotional tribute to the late actor

The Grey's Anatomy star - who was legally married to actress Rebecca Gayhart, 54, during his four-year romance with the 42-year-old photographer - died on Thursday (19.02.26) aged 53, 10 months after he publicly shared his diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

On Saturday (21.02.26) morning, Janell - who, with Eric, made their red carpet debut at the Countdown premiere in Los Angeles on June 18, 2025 - posted a series of photos of her and the Charmed alum enjoying quality time together on her Instagram Stories.

These included two shots that showed Eric - whose progressive neurodegenerative disease attacks nerve cells and causes loss of muscle control - kissing Janell

Another was a sweet selfie of the pair smiling, as well as a video of them singing, as they drove on rocky terrain against a backdrop of cliffs.

And an image of a joyful-looking Eric - best known for playing Dr. Mark Sloan in Grey's Anatomy - as he seemingly got a tattoo was also included.

Janell's tribute for her beau - who married Rebecca in 2004, with her filing for divorce 14 years later - came a day after pals of the Euphoria star launched a GoFundMe crowdfunding campaign for his and Rebecca's daughters, Billie, 15, and 14 year old Georgia.

A message on the GoFundMe page states: "It is with profound sadness that we share the loss of Eric Dane after a hard-fought battle with ALS, leaving behind his devoted wife, Rebecca, and his two teenage daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the centre of his world.

"Following his diagnosis, Eric became a passionate spokesperson for the ALS community, using his voice and platform to advocate for fellow patients and to push for greater awareness.

"Even as his own health declined, he remained deeply committed to helping others facing the same devastating disease.

"As his illness progressed far more quickly than anyone could have imagined, Eric's friends have come together to create this GoFundMe to support his girls and their future needs.

"Any contribution, no matter the size, will help provide stability during this incredibly difficult time and in the future for Eric's wonderful daughters. Thank you."

Friends of Eric - who Rebecca called off her divorce from in March 2025 to teach Billie and Georgia to "show up for family" - put an initial target of $250,000 on the fundraiser and raised almost 50 per cent of the total in just a few hours.

The family of the Marley and Me actor - who Rebecca stood by during his battle with ALS - announced his death on Thursday.

In a statement to People, they said: "With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS.

"He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the centre of his world.

"Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight.

"He will be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered always. Eric adored his fans and is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support he's received. The family has asked for privacy as they navigate this impossible time."
