The South Island's Lewis Pass is closed between Hanmer Springs and Springs Junction, due to a large slip

The South Island's Lewis Pass is closed between Hanmer Springs and Springs Junction, due to a large slip

The slip, discovered early yesterday, forced the closure of the highway in both directions.

The Transport Agency says there's risk of further debris coming down onto the road.

No detour is available, and the next update's not expected before midday.
