The death of a kiwi in Rangataua near Ohakune - has sparked calls for greater dog control

The death of a kiwi in Rangataua near Ohakune - has sparked calls for greater dog control

Rangers were tracking three tagged kiwi's last week when they discovered one, named 'Geyser', dead - most likely from a dog attack.

Local Iwi Ngati Rangi's Helen Leahy says a single dog can cause havoc, on the native birds population.

She says because the birds have no breastplate, so their internal organs are easily damaged.
