    MetService has now issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for areas of Timaru, Mackenzie and Waimate


    The thunderstorms are expected to be accompanied by torrential rain and hail.

    Severe Thunderstorm Watches remain in place for Marlborough, Canterbury Plains and High Country, North and Central Otago and Dunedin.
