A magnitude 7.5 earthquake has hit eastern Russia - very close to where July's 8.8 mega-quake hit

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says this afternoon's quake struck east of Kamchatka, at a depth of 10 kilometres at about quarter to three.

It warns tsunami waves could reach up to a metre in Russia, and below 0.3 metres in Hawaii, Japan and the Marshall Islands.

A NEMA spokesperson says there's no tsunami threat here.
