Rowing New Zealand has named 12 crews to contest the world championships in Belgrade from September 3 to 10

Rowing New Zealand has named 12 crews to contest the world championships in Belgrade from September 3 to 10

The crews were selected from trials in Italy after the final World Cup regatta of the season at Lucerne last month.

Two changes have been made - Kate Haines will now partner Alana Sherman in the women's pair and Ben Taylor will combine with Olympic eights gold medallist Phillip Wilson in the men's equivalent.

Highlights include the return of single sculling Olympic champion Emma Twigg and veterans Brooke Francis and Lucy Spoors will compete at their first pinnacle event since each took time out to start families.

The event doubles as a qualifying event for next year's Paris Games - 10 of the boats are in Olympic classes.
