Kiwis halfback Jahrome Hughes may only miss six weeks of NRL action, despite dislocating his shoulder on club duty

    - article from www.rugbyleague.co.nz

It was feared his season could be over, following the injury last night while playing for the Melbourne Storm in their win over the Sydney Roosters.

But initial scans have reportedly cleared the 30-year-old of any fracture ... however Hughes still faces an MRI scan to see whether he's suffered any damage to ligaments, cartilage or tendons.

Silver Ferns coach Dame Noeline Taurua says she's open to the idea of co-captains replacing the outgoing Ameliaranne Ekenasio.

Current co-vice captains Kelly Jackson and Kate Heffernan are leading contenders to replace Ekenasio.

Coach Dame Noeline Taurua says anything's on the table.
