New Zealand has claimed three medals, including a gold, overnight in a successful first day in Birmingham

New Zealand has claimed three medals, including a gold, overnight in a successful first day in Birmingham

The men's track pursuit cycling team has beaten England in their final to avenge their disqualification on the Gold Coast in 2018.

It adds to a successful night in the velodrome after the women's team surprised their opposition with a silver medal.

The women's sprint team ride for gold at 6am.

Earlier Hayden Wilde claimed the country's first medal of the event, an agonising silver medal, after he copped a ten second transition penalty, which ultimately cost him gold.

In other sports the Warriors have been beaten by the Storm 24-12 in the NRL at Mount Smart Stadium.

Parramatta have upset Penrith 34-10 across the Tasman.

The Black Caps have beaten Scotland by 102 runs in their second Twenty20 in Edinburgh.
