Number eight Gregory Alldritt is a prominent name missing from the first edition of the French rugby squad to tour New Zealand next month

Coach Fabian Galthie has named an initial group of 28 for three tests against the All Blacks.

Flankers Oscar Jegou and Paul Boudehent , and hooker Pierre Bourgarit are other key absentees.

Players will be added to the squad after this weekend's local Top 14 competition semi-finals.

Up to five more will be added after the decider, but players who have played more than a set number of minutes this season won't be considered in a nod to club over country.

The first test is in Dunedin on July 5.
