    Teenage middle distance runner Sam Ruthe intends to compete at this year's Commonwealth Games


    His father Ben has confirmed to Newstalk ZB that his son's intention is to race in Glasgow - as well as the world juniors just afterwards in Eugene, Oregon.

    Australian teenage sprint sensation Gout Gout yesterday pulled out of the Commonwealth Games to focus on the Juniors.

    But Ruthe senior says the dates line up for Ruthe to run at both events.



    New Zealand can take 18 able-bodied track and field athletes - with Ruthe keen to secure a second 'A' standard time this weekend to shore up his place.
