France has beaten New Zealand 2-1 in their women's Olympic football match in Lyon

Kate Taylor scored the Football Ferns' goal in the 42nd minute and told Sky Sport it gave the team hope.

New Zealand is the only team from the group NOT to qualify for the quarter-finals...with France, Colombia and even Canada - despite being docked 6 points - all going through.

That failure has left captain Katie Bowen devastated.
