Fire crews have put out the large scrub fire in Silverdale, north of Auckland, which closed the Hibiscus Coast Highway

Fire crews have put out the large scrub fire in Silverdale, north of Auckland, which closed the Hibiscus Coast Highway

Crews were called to the fire shortly after 1:45 this afternoon, with reports of a fire ripping through a 200-by-30-metre area of grass next to the motorway.

    No injuries were reported.

A local medical centre was closed because of smoke from the fire being a health risk to patients.
