A man accused of killing a sleeping Hamilton eight-year-old boy with a hammer has given up name suppression

A man accused of killing a sleeping Hamilton eight-year-old boy with a hammer has given up name suppression

Open Justice reports Charles Wharton was charged with killing the child and injuring his father in Bader last September.

Crown Solicitor Jacinda Hamilton opposed name suppression.

She cited improvement in Wharton's mental health - the high public interest in the case.

A two-week trial's set for May next year.
