WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has been diagnosed with colon cancer

The 73-year-old wrestling commentator has taken to social media to share the news of his cancer diagnosis with his followers, revealing that he will undergo surgery "in the next week or two"

Jim - who served as the WWE's main commentator throughout the company's Attitude Era in the late 90s and early 2000s - wrote on X: "Diagnosed this week with colon cancer.

"Surgery being scheduled in the next week or two.

"I appreciate your concern and support.

    "[prayer emoji] (sic)"

Jim has worked for All Elite Wrestling (AEW) since 2019, and the promotion company has expressed its support for the legendary commentator, who is also known as JR.

AEW said on X: "All Elite Wrestling joins fans around the world in sending love and support to Jim Ross as he battles colon cancer. J.R. is a valued member of the AEW family, and we stand beside him during his journey toward recovery. (sic)"

Jim has also received support from former WWE star Matt Hardy.

The 50-year-old star - who previously wrestled alongside his brother Jeff in the WWE - wrote on social media: "Love ya, JR! Thinking about and praying for you, my friend. (sic)"

Jim was previously diagnosed with skin cancer in October 2021, and the TV star took to social media at the time to announce the news.

He wrote on X: "Skin cancer confirmed. Waiting on radiologist study to determine best treatment. Likely radiation. Feeling great and ready to attack."

Jim then took to the micro-blogging platform two months later to announce that he was "cancer free" and that he planned to return to commentary duties at AEW.

The veteran broadcaster also thanked Tony Khan, the founder and co-owner of AEW, for supporting him through his recovery.

He wrote: "Due to my skin cancer care totaling 22 radiation treatments starting Monday, I will hopefully return to the announce desk on December 29 in Jacksonville. @TonyKhan supports me on this strategy which has been a blessing. My thanks for all your support. (sic)"
