Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are not preparing for the "royal wedding" some fans had imagined

The singer and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, both 35, confirmed on Tuesday (26.08.25) they are to marry, after two years together, prompting speculation they were planning a huge wedding blow-out

But a source has now told Page Six the pair instead intend to hold a small, family-focused ceremony.

The insider added: "It will be more casual than people think."

Taylor and Travis shared the news they are getting hitched on Instagram, where the couple posted jointly to their millions of followers.

They wrote beneath several images from the proposal, which took place in the garden of Kelce's home in Leawood, Kansas: "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,"

Travis designed the ring he used to propose in collaboration with jeweller Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine.

The elongated, cushion-style diamond is an old mine brilliant cut and could be worth up to $1 million, according to experts cited by Page Six.

Travis' father, Ed Kelce, who is 74, shared details of the proposal.

He said: "They were about to go out to dinner, and he said, 'Let's go out and have a glass of wine'... they got out there, and that's when he asked her, and it was beautiful."

Ed added his son had followed tradition by approaching Taylor's father, Scott Swift, 71, about a month earlier.

He said: "He asked her dad for permission."

Donna Kelce, Travis' mother, had hinted at an announcement days before.

Speaking in an interview on Sunday, the 72-year-old described her son as "a man on a mission" who "knows exactly what he wants", adding: "I think his mind is settled."

Taylor and Travis began dating in the summer of 2023.

They went public in September that year, when the singer attended one of his home games in Kansas City.

Taylor is a globally renowned singer-songwriter with 14 Grammys, acclaimed for her genre-spanning albums and record-breaking tours - while Travis is widely considered one of the NFL's greatest players, with three Super Bowl titles and multiple All-Pro selections.
