A Coroner's report has ruled Jinting Guo , who's been missing from Porirua since 2023, likely drowned after a diving mishap.

A float full of diving gear was discovered the next day - belonging to the 35-year-old - but his body was never found, with the exception of a tibia bone.

Water Safety New Zealand Acting Chief Executive says it's vital to seek advice from professionals before diving, and never head out alone.

He says get in touch with a club or operator, and go on a training course to learn to do things properly.
