An investigation is continuing into what caused the Manahau barge to become grounded on Westport's Carters beach

An investigation is continuing into what caused the Manahau barge to become grounded on Westport's Carters beach

The vessel was spent a week stuck on the beach before being re-floated on Saturday.

It was towed more than 300 kilometres to Port Nelson where it's being checked.

Maritime New Zealand's response team has now handed over to its regulatory operations team -- who have detained the barge.
