In February, Vietjet announced its plans to connect Ho Chi Minh City and Auckland.
It claimed it would start services in September, offering flights four times a week.
But Auckland Airport's chief customer officer Scott Tasker told industry magazine Travel Today, Vietjet has now withdrawn its scheduled landing slots.
He says they understand the airline won't be flying to Auckland this summer.
No other airline currently operates the route, after Air New Zealand cut it in 2018.
