Northern Districts are closing in on domestic cricket's four-day Plunket Shield title

Northern Districts are closing in on domestic cricket's four-day Plunket Shield title

Needing victory over Otago to claim the title, ND are three wickets away nearing lunch - although it could be two required with Andrew Hazeldine retired hurt after copping a Neil Wagner bouncer to the head.

Otago are 220 for seven, chasing 407 and the former Black Caps bowler has three wickets.

Wellington are the only other team that can clinch the crown, but require ND to falter.

The men from the capital have rolled Canterbury - who were also in the mix for the title - for just 97 in their second dig for a 294 run win.
