It's hoped a guilty verdict for former Port of Auckland CEO, Tony Gibson - on health and safety issues over a worker's death will clarify the law

Stevedore Pala'amo Kalati died in 2020 while loading containers on to a ship.
It's the first time an officer of large company has been charged under the Health and Safety at Work Act.
Maritime New Zealand says the ruling reinforces the safety obligations for senior officers of large companies.
It says it will work with WorkSafe and the Institute of Directors to see whether the case could be used to support officers in understanding their duties.
