New Zealand's lone competitor in cycling's Tour de France has been involved in a crash late on stage three

New Zealand's lone competitor in cycling's Tour de France has been involved in a crash late on stage three

Laurence Pithie was positioning to lead out teammate Jordi Meeus for a sprint finish when calamity struck with three kilometres remaining.

Pithie's since posted to social media that the incident was "unfortunate" but he's had scans at hospital and should start stage four tonight.

Mathieu van der Poel continues to wear the leader's yellow jersey.
