A push for tighter sex offender bail conditions, following revelations one abuser's planned a pre-sentence overseas trip

A push for tighter sex offender bail conditions, following revelations one abuser's planned a pre-sentence overseas trip

A 30-year-old Auckland teacher pleaded guilty to sexually abusing an 11-year-old male pupil earlier this year, and she'll be sentenced in October.

It's understood she's leaving to support a loved one undergoing a cosmetic procedure, prompting fears she may not return.

The victim's family friend Jacinta McGregor, has now launched a petition calling for tighter laws, saying sex offenders either shouldn't get bail or should be monitored.
