Police have unearthed more suspects in a money-laundering scheme paying construction wages in cash

Detective Inspector Chris Allan says organised crime groups try to inject proceeds of crime into labourers' wages at legitimate projects.

Police this morning arrested seven people, after executing nine search warrants across Auckland.

It brings the total arrested through the investigation to 16.

Allan says police will allege those arrested "washed" money from illegal activities using cash payments.
