    Former Children's Commissioner and National Party MP Roger McClay has died


    Hi son, Todd McClay, has posted a tribute to him, saying his father represented the Taupo and Waikaremoana electorates for fifteen years.

    He was a Minister for Youth Affairs, Pacific Island Affairs and Associate Minister of Education and Social Welfare.

    He also served as Commissioner for Children - a job he enjoyed more than any other.

    Roger McClay, who was 80, will be honoured at a service in Taupo on Thursday.
