NZTA's been on resealing, resurfacing and rebuilding the region's state highways since September.
Work paused from December 20 until this week, to avoid congestion.
Regional Maintenance and Operations Manager, Jacqui Hori-Hoult, says they hope to renew just over 210 kilometres by May.
She says people should expect roadworks - and plan ahead, drive to the conditions and be aware of changes along the way.
