The Government says its simplifying what has to be considered with foreign investments

The Government says its simplifying what has to be considered with foreign investments

It's proposing changes to the Overseas Investment Act, including making investment decisions in 15 days, aside from those for residential land, farm land and fishing quota.

Associate Finance Minister David Seymour says right now investors are required to show benefits that go above and beyond wanting to invest.

He says national security and public order risks are also being considered.

Mr Seymour says if it involves a foreign government or someone who might have plans other than erasing productivity and wages, it gets kicked upstairs.
