The Senior Doctors union is seeking a 12 percent rise in pay - as it plans to strike

The Senior Doctors union is seeking a 12 percent rise in pay - as it plans to strike

The Association of Salaried Medical Specialists has announced a 24 hour strike for May 1.

Executive Director Sarah Dalton says the average salary is about 240 thousand dollars.

She says part of the logic is making sure pay increases are fair across the board.

Dalton says because of high pay for so called Registered Medical Officers or Junior Doctors, some actually take a pay cut when they move up.
