Emergency Management Otago's priority is now restoring access and services to isolated communities

Emergency Management Otago's priority is now restoring access and services to isolated communities

Weather has improved, and there are no watches or warnings in force.

There is public health concern about a high risk of a gastro outbreak in flood-affected parts of the region.

In the Clutha District, 58 roads are closed and numerous wastewater plants are not functioning normally.

Group Manager Matt Alley, says all rivers have now peaked, and flows are receding.

He says agencies, contractors and organisations are working hard to restore power, assess damage, check on people and restore roading.
