    Two major crashes on South Island Roads today

    Two major crashes on South Island Roads today


    The first happened on State Highway 6 - near the Devil's Staircase this afternoon.

    One person was killed and at least 20 others injured in the collision - between a bus and two cars.

    Later 0 a two vehicle crash closed State Highway 1 - just south of Hurunui River Bridge 0 in Canterbury.

    No word yet on the condition of the occupants of the vehicles.

    Both roads remain closed.
