Hunger-striking prison inmate and convicted killer Dean Wickliffe is now in Waikato Hospital and will soon face the Parole Board

Hunger-striking prison inmate and convicted killer Dean Wickliffe is now in Waikato Hospital and will soon face the Parole Board

The 77-year-old has lost more than 17 kilograms since going on a hunger strike in Springhill Prison two weeks ago, with supporters saying he won't eat until he's released without conditions.

He was arrested earlier this month for breaching parole by living in his car.

Wickliffe's Parole Board hearing has been moved forward eight days due to his ill-health, and is now tomorrow afternoon.

Meanwhile, Police are looking into Wickliffe's alleged assault by a Springhill Prison staff member.
