Former Scotland rugby captain and British and Irish Lions great Ian McLauchlan has died, aged 83

Former Scotland rugby captain and British and Irish Lions great Ian McLauchlan has died, aged 83

McLauchlan led Scotland 19 times, meeting the All Blacks in his final test in late 1979.

He earned the nickname 'Mighty Mouse' for being a fearsome scrummager as a prop weighing only a little over 90 kilograms.

McLauchlan was a part of the successful Lions tour to New Zealand in 1971 - scoring a crucial try in their opening 9-3 test win in Dunedin.
