The Government's expanding its car seizure and clamping trial, for dealing with unpaid court fines

The Government's expanding its car seizure and clamping trial, for dealing with unpaid court fines

Justice Minister Paul Goldsmith says since July, more than 67-thousand number plate scans identified almost a-thousand people with overdue payments.

Over 270 paid on the spot, almost 130 established payment arrangements, while 160 had their cars seized or clamped.

Sixteen were sold at auction, with another 52 to follow.

Goldsmith says with more than 225-thousand-dollars recovered, the 10 number plate scanners will increase to at least 39 as part of a permanent roll out.
