    Stats NZ data for January shows retail card spending rose just 1.1 percent year-on-year.

    ASB senior economist Kim Mundy says signs of activity picking up - aren't strong.

    She says spending is trending higher, but not at a fast pace, which feels more like a tentative recovery.
