A collective tackling youth homelessness says the Government is using bullying tactics in its public housing tenant crackdown

A collective tackling youth homelessness says the Government is using bullying tactics in its public housing tenant crackdown

Kainga Ora says it's taking a stricter approach to tenants with rent debt - and will terminate contracts with people who don't attempt to make payments.

Its also writing off debt for people who consistently pay rent but are overdue by 12 weeks or more.

Manaaki Rangatahi Spokesperson Brooke Stanley says Kainga Ora is ignoring the complex needs of disadvantaged people.

She says it should be working to understand the issues and provide solutions focused on their care and wellbeing.
