No motive is clear for a fatal assault at an Auckland bus stop on Saturday night

No motive is clear for a fatal assault at an Auckland bus stop on Saturday night

33-year old US PHD student Kyle Whorrall died after being attacked on St Johns Road in Meadowbank.

Police are hunting a black SUV driven erratically just before, about 9.50pm - and at least two linked offenders - and asking for witnesses and any footage.

Auckland's Deputy Mayor and Orakei Councillor Desley Simpson says this has shaken the community.

She says all violence in the city is horrible, but this was at a suburban bus stop.
