    One person has died following a serious two-vehicle crash in Northland


    Police say they were called to the crash on State Highway 1 near Wai-o-mio, south of Kawakawa about midnight.

    The road has been reopened, following a scene examination.

    It is the first death in the King's Birthday Weekend road toll.
